Navy, Wake offer unique challenges

WINSTON SALEM - Today's meeting between Wake Forest and Navy could be dubbed "the battle of the scout teams." That's because those fourth- and fifth-string reserves charged with replicating the opponent's offense played crucial roles this past week.

Both teams employ unconventional offenses that are extremely difficult to prepare for. Navy confounds opposing defenses with its triple-option offense that is threatening to lead the nation in rushing for a fourth straight season. Wake Forest has its own unconventional style, an option-based spread responsible for three of the top six total yardage totals in school...
