Buffin was an All-District performer at Rowlett High, a Class 5A school located just outside Dallas, Texas. A couple major conference schools showed interest in Buffin, but told the youngster he would have to come as a walk-on and show he was deserving of a scholarship. Navy, which has overlooked size in favor of speed and play-making ability, decided to give Buffin a shot.
