Midshipmen can't clear final hurdle

WASHINGTON - Wake Forest vowed to play smash-mouth football during its rematch with Navy in the EagleBank Bowl. The Demon Deacons backed up to their words, dominating the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and steadily wearing down the Midshipmen.

The Naval Academy takes on Wake Forest in the inaugural EagleBank Bowl at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. Wake Forest won 29-19.

Tailback Kevin Harris rushed for 136 yards to lead a powerful rushing game while free safety Chip Vaughn and middle linebacker Stanley Arnoux anchored a hard-hitting defensive effort as Wake Forest rallied from an early deficit to defeat Navy 29-19 in front of 28,777 fans at RFK Stadium.
