Midshipmen just escape LongwoodPublished 12/31/08
Romeo Garcia, the best defender on the Navy basketball team, suffered a hamstring injury in practice on Monday and may be lost for a month or more. Head coach Billy Lange knew Garcia's absence would hurt Navy defensively. However, Lange never imagined the Midshipmen would completely fall apart on that end of the floor. Senior swingman Kaleo Kina made two free throws with 7.3 seconds remaining then grabbed the rebound after E.J. Dawson missed a layup on the other end as Navy escaped with a heart-stopping 81-80 victory over Longwood in front of 1,625 fans at Alumni Hall last night. Kina finished with 21 points for Navy...
