Navy wrestlers filling gaps in difficult seasonPublished 01/29/09
It's been one of those seasons for the Navy wrestling program. It seems that everything that could go wrong has gone wrong for the Midshipmen, who have been absolutely devastated by injuries.
Courtesy photoBroadneck graduate Tyler Moyer has moved up to wrestle at heavyweight for Navy in Friday’s in-state showdown with Maryland. Five out of 10 starters have been lost for some length of time due to injuries. Three of those grapplers have been lost for the season, headlined by nationally-ranked heavyweight Scott Steele. Steele, an alternate for the United States Olympic team in Beijing last summer, sustained a horrifying shoulder injury in the finals of the Southern Scuffle.
