Navy capped a remarkable turnaround by playing in the 2003 Houston Bowl, which was also held at Reliant Stadium. A lopsided 38-14 loss to Texas Tech did not diminish the fact Navy made remarkable progress that season, finishing 8-5 after compiling a dismal 3-30 record from 2000-2002.
Navy has won at least eight games and gone to a bowl every year since, making 2003-2009 one of the most successful periods in program history.
