Two Navy grads killed in chopper crash in AfghanistanPublished 07/06/05
One was a scholar whose room looked like a bookstore. The other was so focused he taught himself German as a high school student. Both graduated from the Naval Academy and went on to become members of the SEALs, one of the elite fighting forces in the world. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Erik S. Kristensen, Class of 1995, and Lt. Michael M. McGreevy Jr., Class of 1997, and six other SEALs along with an Army crew of eight died on June 28 when enemy forces shot down their MH-47 Chinook helicopter in a mountainous area of Afghanistan. Lt.
