Seniors recall time at academyPublished 02/23/08
Looking back over their four years at the Naval Academy, some local seniors said yesterday they were glad they came - and are delighted to be leaving.

It would be hard to find a member of the Naval Academy Class of 2008 who is happier than midshipman 1st Class Sian Stimpert of Mitchellsville, a systems engineering major who learned Thursday night that she would get her wish and serve aboard the USS Essex.
"Walking across that stage is going to fell soooo good," said Midshipman 1st Class Benjamin Gabbard, of Arnold. "It can't get here too soon."
Midshipman Gabbard, a quantitative economics major, played football during his four years at the academy, at a time when Navy enjoyed some of its best seasons on the field. After graduating and commissioning on May 23, he will train to serve as a naval flight officer, a position where he will be responsible...
