Mid likely to face trial on child porn chargesPublished 04/08/08
WASHINGTON, D.C. - A Naval Academy midshipman had child porn on three different computers, witnesses testified yesterday at a hearing to determine if there is justification for pressing formal charges.
The investigating officer concluded the six-hour hearing by saying he will consider recommending the academy superintendent add an additional charge against Midshipman 1st Class Michael S. Pollard: distribution of child porn.
Cmdr. Michael C. Holofield, said Midshipman Pollard, 22, distributed porn when he gave his mother one of his computers that had still illegal images on it. Victims of child porn are re-victimized each time...

Double Jeopardy - April 11, 2008
This Sailor faces the UCMJ & should face the Federal and State laws in which may apply to the possession , use or distribution of the images obtained. I believe these images could not have just appear by accident via a double clicking here or there, nor go un noticed from the purchase of a used hard drives. I believe he knew of the images and I am feel certain he knew of the consequences for possessing them, More so he knew they were wrong and he knew of his duty to report the images and chose not too. If I am not mistaken that's good enough for the charge of Article 134 under the UCMJ, the lessor of what should be at least a vilation of UCMJ Article 133. I believe this man knew fully of his actions and should be held accountable , Let accountability be the guide for all, I believe each persons should be held accountable for their actions, Let the measure of ones actions be the measure of their reward . The way I see it! There is no punishment, only the rewards of our actions. We may fall victim to ones actions but we all are rewarded with the end product of our efforts and choices. This reward is a positive or negative reward, depending on the effort given. This sailor gave no effort to suppress his illegal perversions and now the reward is to be the measure of this sailors actions. The law gives the acceptable measurements for the each crime and this sailor must now accept this measurement as his own reward.

Child porn in Maryland - April 10, 2008
What with the Naval Acad. midshipman, plus a former Maryland Department of Natural Resources state employee, Ronald Draper, as well as a Md. Delegate, Robert McKee, all recently having been charged with child porn, wouldn't you think lawmakers would want to do something about this problem? I am with the Maryland Coalition Against Pornography (see www.mcap1.com), and we have been trying to increase the penalty for possessing child porn to a felony, since it is just a misdemeanor currently. 46 other states in our country allow for it to be prosecuted as a felony; why not Maryland? A bill for this, HB 436, just passed the Md. House of Delegates 136-0 in February, but the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee would not even bring it before the committee for a vote. One wonders why Sen. Brian Frosh (D) blocked any vote on this?
