Girl Scouts stage jungle-flavored Mardi Gras celebrationPublished 02/28/06
Throw 528 excited preteen girls into a bowl, stir carefully and stand back. The result would be similar to the human swirl of neon-blasted color, noise and funky accessories that roamed through Central Middle School on Friday night. Hundreds of Junior Girl Scouts - mostly in grades 3 to 6 - from throughout Maryland descended upon the Edgewater school to celebrate Mardi Gras. With the theme "Into The Jungle," that meant plenty of beads and silly souvenirs, but none of the raunchiness that marks the New Orleans version.
