Around Broadneck: Students certified as beekeepersPublished 04/10/06
Loyd Luna's class was all abuzz. After graduating on Saturday, the 42 students are now ready to be bona fide apiarists. That's not a fancy word for a piano player. Over a five-week period of intensive classes, they learned how to be beekeepers. "The interest in bees has exploded in the last couple of years," said Mr. Luna, a resident of Ulmstead Estates in Arnold. Garden clubs clamor for his services as a speaker, and he sells his honey and beewax products at the Severna Park Farmers' Market. Those keep him busy until beekeeping classes resume next March.
