Students take part in Walk to School Week, promoting exercise, clean airPublished 10/06/06
The red-haired 7-year-old was buzzing around her Arnold home at 7:45 a.m. getting ready to walk to Belvedere Elementary School on Mago Vista Road from the nearby community of Wexford.
Most days, Shaina Paris, a second grader, strolls the half-mile with her mother, Arlynn. But this week, it seemed, all her friends were walking to school.
At the corner of Ruxshire and Dauntsey drives, kids were hopping up and down in anticipation as more and more students arrived. At the corner, County Councilman Cathy Vitale was also waiting, wearing a white polo shirt and casual khakis. She chatted with the kids about the benefits of fresh air...
