Leopold: County will act to fight global warming

County Executive John R. Leopold has joined the movement to fight global warming.

Mr. Leopold announced yesterday that he has signed the U.S. Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement, promising that the Anne Arundel government will do its part to combat global warming.

More than 300 mayors across the country have signed the agreement since 2005. They were inspired to act after the federal government refused to sign the international Kyoto Protocol, which challenges countries to reduce pollution of greenhouse gases that cause global warming.
