Thirteen-year-old Selena Roper of Annapolis will be in Washington tomorrow to represent Capital-Gazette Newspapers in the 2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
She'll compete against 285 other students in the world-famous spell-off. The last speller standing gets $30,000, a $2,500 U.S. savings bond and a college scholarship, among other prizes. The final rounds will be broadcast on national TV.
