The local chapter, L.L. Chapter #3, focuses its efforts on Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in St. Mary's County, which also has two assisted living wings.

Checks, made payable to L.L. Merrill, Sr., Chapter #3 DVA,...

Traffic on Bestgate Road - 2007-09-11 17:56:19

I am truly sorry to read that anyone was inconvenienced by this wonderful event. Please do not lay the blame on the event organizers, as it was not their choice nor preference to leave the roads open to traffic. For that, look to the people who run our lovely city. Perhaps they can take your well-said comment to heart next year.

Traffic on Bestgate Rd - 2007-09-10 12:16:28

Kudos to the triathlon participants but not to the planners and the people who made us adhere to the idiocy. Once again traffic control was a miserable failure! Why not close the Road? I could have avoided the situation completely. Instead, I was an unwilling captive for 40 min from the light at ST. John Neumann to light on West St.. then forced to go out Gen Hwy, miles out of my way, when I needed to go to Safeway on Housley Rd. There was no chance to pull off for any emergency, like a bathroom stop. Did they consider even the bikers welfare? The fumes could not have been great for the bikers either! In the future, I will stay at least 3 mi away from any event.
