When the doors opened at 9 a.m. last Saturday at Glen Burnie High School for Homeless Resource Day, the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services hoped to meet a goal of helping 300 homeless people.
After a long and rewarding day, that goal was blown away with volunteers and county employees helping 410 people.
An individual volunteer guide was assigned to each family to provide the family members with all the care they needed for the day.
This is the first time Anne Arundel County has organized such an event to help the needy on such a large scale, officials said.
