Hannah More School student Evan Bertrand, a 15-year-old Annapolis resident, has autism. He recently performed piano music at a public Peabody recital at Maryland Hall and often shows empathy for his classmates by advocating on their behalf when they are upset or distressed.
He bowed briefly, sat down at the grand piano and, ignoring the silent audience, began to play.
For more than five minutes last Friday evening during a recital by Peabody students, Evan Bertrand of Annapolis played Johann Sebastian Bach's "Minuet in G" and the "Sonatina Opus 36" by Muzio Clementi.
