Camp puts accent on Spanish languagePublished 08/13/08
This year camp is helping Elisabeth Jenkins prepare for a visit to her grandmother.

Janina Vaitkus, left, helps Alex Cochrane, 7, make a Spanish-themed craft yesterday at the Campo del Bosque, a Spanish-language immersion camp at Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center.The 8-year-old is one of about 70 young students in Campo del Bosque, the county public schools' day camp that exposes participants to the Spanish language and culture. But it will be especially helpful for Elisabeth, who plans to visit her grandmother in Spain next year. "I like learning about Spanish and it's really fun," Elisabeth said. "My favorite part is when we learn the foods." She already knows that tamales are her favorite food and that in Spanish, Spain becomes Espana. This is the third year...
