Equipment donation bolsters county reserve officersPublished 09/04/08

County police Reserve Officer Stanley Jones, of Annapolis, checks out some of the new gear donated to the volunteer group that augments the county police department for various activities.They don't carry a gun, make arrests, or get paid. But the county's 60 volunteer reserve officers provided more than 20,000 hours of help to the county Police Department last year. County officials also estimated those hours of service saved the department close to $400,000. This month, the county reserve officers received a little help of their own from the Southern Police Reserves Foundation.
