Dining alone on ThanksgivingPublished 11/27/08
Five days a week, volunteers at the Meals on Wheels hub at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park deliver hot meals to about 50 clients. Emory Hopkins, 92, a regular customer, is one of the lucky ones. He'll be sharing Thanksgiving with family a few miles from his home. But today, 29 of the people served by Woods Memorial will dine alone. Countywide, 136 of the 230 regular meal recipients will have turkey, and all the fixings, all in a plastic carry-out tray, delivered to the door by volunteer drivers.
