Fuel Fund of Maryland begins envelope campaign

Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. customers can expect postage-paid envelopes to appear enclosed with their energy bills next month, along with a notice encouraging them to make a contribution to the Fuel Fund of Maryland.

The Fuel Fund is a charity that provides resources to low-income Marylanders who are currently struggling to keep up with their heat and home-utility bills. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the first envelope campaign, which followed a historic energy crisis in the late 1970s. At that time, an oil embargo had strained available fuel supplies, dramatically inflating U.S. oil prices.
