A forward on Severn School's girls varsity basketball team, senior Leanne Hug, 17, describes herself as "a threat inside the paint."

Gowns For Giving, a charitable project co-founded by Severn School senior Leanne Hug of Arnold, divides the proceeds raised from the sale of donated prom and cocktail dresses among several charities.Six feet tall, Leanne regularly scores 15 points and eight rebounds per game and is the team co-captain with teammates Caitlin Sheehan and Katie Dickerson. "I like to drive the ball and take the occasional outside shot," she said, smiling. Yet, Leanne humbly considers herself "fortunate to be part of this team." At the end of the 2007-2008 season, Leanne received the Coaches Award in recognition of her leadership, both on and off the court. This...
