First book written by noted children's illustrator a hit

Lisa McCue's studio looks like a children's bookstore, with shelves filled to bursting with the more than 175 books she's illustrated.

Arianne Teeple — For The Capital Children’s book illustrator Lisa McCue looks over her newly published work, “Quiet Bunny,” in her Annapolis studio. The book, which is aimed at helping children with speech development, is the first she’s written.
Lisa McCue has illustrated 175 books but she recently tackled something new, she wrote her own story. McCues Quiet Bunny was released last month by Sterling Publishing in New York City and tells the tale of a cuddly little bunny anxious to make some sounds and join in the night songs of the other denizens of his lush meadow. Her specialty is creating creatures that maintain their lifelike qualities while still managing to convey big smiles and friendly personalities. In almost 30 years as an illustrator, the Annapolis resident has sketched and painted almost every kind of animal.

But she recently tackled something new. She wrote her own story.
