Teen: 'They kind of saved my life twice'

Hailey Hutchison never thought the crash that could have killed her would eventually save her life.

The pair celebrated the one-year anniversary of the crash by thanking those who helped treat Hailey and cut her out of the badly damaged car. While she was being treated for injuries suffered in the crash, doctors found the early stages of cancer in Hailey, who thanks to the early discovery, is now in remission.

The 19-year-old from Edgewater was involved in a serious car crash on June 18, 2008, in Mayo. The wreck was so bad she had to be cut out of the car.

But the shock that came next was even more unexpected: during her treatment, doctors discovered she had cancer.

Last week, she paid a visit to the firefighters and paramedics who helped her in her first brush with death.

"They kind of saved my life twice," she said.
