They'll also each climb more than 100,000 feet - more than three times the altitude flown by commercial jetliners - on a course that is about 50 percent longer than the Tour De France.
And it all ends this weekend at City Dock in Annapolis.
The race started in Oceanside, Calif., on Saturday for teams, and racers will cycle through 14 states in hopes of making it to the finish line.
