Gambrills landowner honored for preservationPublished 07/01/09
J. Henson - The CapitalClerk of the Circuit Court Robert Duckworth, left, looks on as Ned Hall signs the first page of the Registry for the Chesapeake Bay String of Pearls Project. Mr. Hall was honored for preserving his vast tract of woods in Gambrills. The Registry will be kept at the courthouse. Ned Hall didn't see why all the fuss was necessary. There were several government citations, heartfelt speeches and dozens of admirers offering a standing ovation - all to honor Hall's choice to preserve his tract of woodland in west county. For Hall, it wasn't a difficult choice or one to be celebrated. Protecting land from development is just the natural thing to do, he said. "It's too much, too much," Hall said yesterday after he became the first honoree in the Chesapeake Bay String of Pearls Project, which aims to highlight property owners who protect their land. Hall and his wife,...

Thank Goodness - 2009-07-03 01:50:52
Thank you Mr.Hall for preserving your land and not seeing the dollars signs that developers try to intice people with. Off of millersville rd. we are about to lose 24ac of woodland to a greedy developer and I know its going to be a eyesore when completed. Thank goodness there are still people like you Mr.Hall that still care about the land.

Land, Land, and More Land - 2009-07-01 18:53:07
I would give this gentleman, and his wife a standing ovation only because he didn't sell his land, even at the price that was offered to him. Here we see too many houses being built around this area, so many that the town can't keep up with the crowded school system that we have to endure with every Fall. Not only does this continuous process of building homes, townhouses, condos, and businesses tend to be a royal pain, but also the loads of traffic too. I live just off of Waugh Chapel Road, and it literally takes me about five, count it five minutes to make a left hand turn out of my street. I wished there would have been more homeowners like Nedd who would have kept there land for better usage such as for developing a new Middle & High School for this area but you know how much sense that would make. But instead they'll continue to build more houses for an already crowded town or say city.
