Vet recalls 'textbook' WWII rescuePublished 09/29/09
Nearly 65 years ago, Marion Titus was part of what has been lauded as the most perfect airborne rescue of all time.

The unit took part in a rescue at the Los Banos Civilian Internment Camp in the Philippines during World War II. More than 2,000 civilian prisoners were freed that day. As a young corporal in the 672nd Amphibious Tractor Battalion in World War II, Titus was part of the contingent that freed more than 2,000 civilians trapped in the Los Banos Civilian Internment Camp in the Philippines. The Pasadena resident, now 85, hit his head during the raid and received a Purple Heart for his services.
