Homeless shelter wants to personalize quilts for clients' beds

They are called comforters for a reason: Snuggling under the covers of one's own bed gives many people a feeling of comfort and security.

But the reality is not everyone in Annapolis has his or her own bed.

Last year, about 500 people out on the streets in Annapolis and the surrounding area - 159 of them children - were turned away from the Light House homeless shelter because there weren't enough beds to accommodate their stay.

"We're booked all the time, and people know that," said Marilyn Baker, Light House development director. "Some people don't bother calling anymore."
