WASHINGTON - A Queen Anne's County man has been indicted in federal court in a multiyear investigation into the illegal catching and selling of Chesapeake Bay rockfish.
Benjamin P. Clough III of Grasonville faces five felony indictments: four under the Lacey Act, a federal anti-poaching law, and one count of making a false statement, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
According to Monday's indictment, Clough worked for a Washington, D.C., seafood company called Profish that is alleged to have bought illegal rockfish from 1995 until 2007.
