PASADENA - An elderly man struck by a car while trying to walk across Riviera Drive on Tuesday afternoon died of his injuries later that night, county police said.
Fred Champion, 78, of 7580 Beach Drive in Pasadena stepped in front of a southbound 2009 Chevy Cobalt at about 5:20 p.m. just north of Fort Smallwood Road, said Justin Mulcahy, a county Police Department spokesman.
The driver, 21-year-old Katie Bees of 1721 Grandview Road in Pasadena, was not injured.
