Severn School senior Michelle Meriweather Ponder not only thinks fast on her feet - when a role requires that she pretend to be a ballet dancer, she doesn't tippy-toe away from the challenge.

Michelle Meriweather Ponder, 18, a senior at the Severn School, has had lead roles in the school’s two musicals this academic year. Active in music, theater, sports and volunteer work, she hopes to become a dermatologist.Find Us On Facebook
Last fall, after Michelle landed the lead role of Essie in the Severn School musical, "You Can't Take It With You," she mastered the basics of ballet dancing en pointe within a week. "The role of Essie was a funny one because I'm not really a dancer," said Michelle. "I was a terrible dancer and so was Essie."
