About 10 years ago, Collot and Bill Brewer of Galesville decided they'd invite a few friends over for a summertime garden party. They pondered over different kinds of activities that they could offer their guests, and decided on a friendly game of croquet.

Guests came to the party, had lunch, then played a few matches. "At some point, someone said to me, 'This is great fun,'" Bill Brewer said.
Brewer did a little research and decided to learn more about the game of croquet. He traveled to the U.S. Croquet Association Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., to take a week-long course.
