Girl Scouts, Home Depot employees donate time

More than two dozen volunteers, many from area Home Depot stores, spent Thursday building a new, 1,700-square-foot thrift store for Chrysalis House, a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility in Crownsville.

From right, Girl Scouts Lacey Shirley-Keffer, Katlyn Flynn and Christina Antonini watch while the walls are raised on the Chrysalis House’s new Butterfly Boutique thrift shop in Crownsville on Thursday. The girls, members of Troop 913, have made the building of the shop the centerpiece of their Gold Award project.
The new store, called The Butterfly Boutique, not only will be a place for Chrysalis House to sell an accumulation of donated items, but also an opportunity for women at the facility to learn job skills like sales and customer service.

This is a great story of commitment, dedication and seeing a project through to completion. The residents are just one of the beneficiaries, all involved learned and the community is a better place. Thanks.

If you're reading this and you're a female executive, you should think about donating to this great cause. What a way to demonstrate that women can handle such huge responsibilities, and those typically though of as 'male' specialities, at that!
