Our say: Malpractice bill: Half a solution is better than nothingPublished 01/02/05
MARYLAND residents are probably wondering whether the new year will bring more harmony to state government. But after the acrimonious special session on the medical malpractice issue - which left Gov. Robert Ehrlich and Democratic legislative leaders at loggerheads - harmony doesn't seem likely. Last week the legislature came up with a watered-down compromise that, though disappointing to the governor, will bring some needed relief. The governor should accept that compromise and move on. It was the governor's idea to call the legislature back to Annapolis. He gambled that it would approve his own bill. We don't understand...
