ARMY MAY have fallen short in its novel attempt to get the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy by outright theft. The 170-pound award was recovered Wednesday in a Bancroft Hall storage room. But the U.S. Military Academy's Black Knights will have their chance tomorrow afternoon to get the trophy the legitimate way - by beating the U.S. Naval Academy's Midshipmen on a football field in Philadelphia.
If keeping possession of the coveted trophy isn't enough motivation for the Midshipmen, try this: Whoever triumphs tomorrow will not only take the lead in the 106-game series - now tied 49-49-7 - but will be the first to reach 50 wins....
