From the editor's desk: Careless slip-up on state history obscured editorial's pointPublished 04/02/06
I will forever remember the warning of an old college professor who told me that while a lawyer's mistakes end up in jail, a journalist's mistakes are published for all to see. That was certainly the case when we badly fumbled a bit of recent Maryland history in Wednesday's editorial. We opined that, given the recent upheaval over projected increases in utility rates, Gov. Robert Ehrlich Jr. could face the same repercussions that plagued former governor Harry Hughes, whose political career skidded to a halt after Maryland's savings-and-loan scandal.
