We don't see it that way. Some inmates at the jail have serious psychiatric problems and are potentially a danger to themselves and others. It makes sense to pull them aside for assessment and temporary treatment.
Having the 20-bed facility at Jennifer Road should be a relief for jail personnel who until now have been either dispatching the most dangerously unstable prisoners to state hospitals or separating them in single-bed cells. The new unit is a good idea, and...
