Our Say:Don't pets merit police protection?Published 01/19/07
A recent story told of the death of three pygmy goats attacked by two Siberian huskies that shouldn't have been running loose. A mother and her daughters, ages 15 and 9, watched as their pets were killed. Regrettable as this was, such stories are familiar fare in areas where suburbs mingle with farmland, and penned-up farm animals run afoul of large dogs owned by suburbanites who don't adequately control them. What bothers us most is that - according to Severn resident Nancy Mitchell - the two county police officers summoned to the scene refused to do anything.
