It looks like partisanship on the new County Council has already reared its ugly, pointy little head.
In the relatively minor matter of who should be the council's attorney, the four Republican members recently surprised their Democratic colleagues with a secretly selected appointee on the night of the council meeting.
If this is a harbinger of partisan politics to come, Anne Arundel County is in for a bumpy four years. Instead of working for the public good, council members will be busy knifing each other in the back, jockeying for political advantage and looking for ways to make the other party look bad.
