Our say:School board bill didn't need salary amendmentPublished 03/30/07
A bill to change how this county selects its school board members appears, as of this writing, to be forging ahead. The next step is for a conference committee to reconcile versions passed by the House of Delegates and state Senate. We continue to support the bill, although we regret that the House version got a last-minute amendment increasing compensation for school board members by up to 120 percent. We don't oppose paying board members for their services - Anne Arundel County, the fourth-largest jurisdiction in the state, is one of only three that doesn't offer salaries, although it does provide money for...
