LAST HURRAH - Powerlessness is never a good feeling, particularly when it involves the appointment of officials - such as school board members - who can have a major local impact.
So we're relieved that Gov. Martin O'Malley made the last hurrah of the antiquated school board appointment system as painless as possible. He appointed the two top choices of the School Board Nominating Convention: Patricia Nalley, who is the retiring principal of Davidsonville Elementary School, and current board Vice President Eugene Peterson.
