Guest Column: Undocumented immigrants not a threatPublished 03/23/08
The Proof of Legal Presence Act of 2008, of which Del. Ron George, R-Arnold, is the lead sponsor, would prevent residents of Maryland - undocumented immigrants - from receiving driver's licenses.
This is not good public policy. Contrary to what Mr. George would like us to think (The Sunday Capital, March 9), giving undocumented immigrants access to driver's licenses would not lower our security, prevent identity fraud, create burdens on our infrastructure, or bring an epidemic of leprosy upon us. Rather, perpetuating those myths will erode our sense of community, hurt our neighbors, cause...
