Guest Column: Burtis House is part of the story of sailingPublished 03/23/08
As a recent editorial on the National Sailing Hall of Fame (The Capital, March 7) said, let's all take a deep breath - and have a reasonable discussion of the proposal to put the museum at City Dock on the site of the Captain Burtis House.
The policy of the Ward One Residents Association, of which I am a past president, has always been to oppose making the downtown a generic event venue. It puts too great a strain on the delicate balance of residential and business uses there.
