Time for someone to be accountable for school fundingPublished 05/13/08
Pity the poor parent in Anne Arundel County who is looking for someone - anyone - to lobby for more education funding. As our Sunday story illustrated, the county refers callers to the school system and the school system refers them to the county. Welcome to the budget merry-go-round. This budget boomerang is symbolic of a broken system whose failures are only magnified when money is short. State legislators, who recently reformed how school board members are selected, need to address the budget conflict between school and county officials.
