Nonprofits shouldn't be ousted from old hospital sitePublished 06/25/08
You can now say a few things about the extensive tract northwest of Annapolis that, from 1911 to 2004, housed the Crownsville Hospital Center, a state psychiatric facility: There's not a chance that it will remain long in its current condition, with just a few of its grim old buildings used by local nonprofit groups. A lot of developers, at least when the market improves, would like to cover it with housing. The county missed its best chance to control the property's development several years ago.
