Guest Column: Preserving cove is right decisionPublished 08/24/08
Sullivan Cove, on the Severn River, is a protected cove with one of the last ecosystems of its kind on the Severn, and perhaps anywhere in the state. People have been enjoying this spot's natural beauty for centuries. It has a stand of Atlantic white cedars and natural bogs. A tidal pond is a haven for fish, herons, waterfowl and other wildlife. It's tranquil, serene, mostly untouched by development, and a world away from the cigarette boats and manmade destruction common on the Chesapeake Bay.
