There are honorable people on both sides of the slot machine debate. So, rather than getting distracted by debating politics and personalities - which really do not affect taxpayers - we should focus on the facts and answer a basic question: What have we learned over the last 15 to 20 years as slot machines have expanded from two states - Nevada and New Jersey - to 37 states? Simply, we've learned that video lottery terminals have provided revenue to dozens of states - providing an alternative to tax increases or cuts to vital services without causing the severe problems that opponents claim.
