DUMB MOVE - What was Mayor Ellen Moyer thinking when she asked the City Council to give her hand-picked managers 26 weeks of severance pay if they are fired for cause or for political reasons?

Perhaps that any new mayor is likely to replace a lot of her loyal employees and she wanted to pad their wallets while there was still time. That's certainly what it looked like.

Moyer proposed extending severance pay for exempt employees from the current 61/2 weeks to 26 weeks. Luckily for city taxpayers, no alderman was willing to provide this golden parachute.

Mayor's Pay Raise - 2009-07-18 11:24:57

Too bad the Capital and the Council weren't this indignant when Moyer pushed through that untimely, excessive mayoral pay raise at the request of her annointed successor, Josh Cohen. Let's hope the citizens of Annapolis do their part to roll back that boondoggle by voting for one of the candidates promising to reject that windfall.
