Guest Column: State on cusp of being the Silicon Valley of new nuclear generationPublished 09/16/09
Notwithstanding the current hardships our country faces, all economic forecasts point to increasing population, growing economy and the corresponding need to increase our supply of domestically secure, reliable and clean sources of energy. In the near term, our nation is pursuing an array of renewable energy initiatives and undertaking energy efficiency programs to reduce and better manage demand for energy. Maryland is leading the way on both, setting strong goals to reduce per capita energy use by 2015. But looking beyond 2015, Maryland can continue to lead by setting course to be the Silicon Valley of new nuclear...
