Our Say: Boat shows a major calling card for cityPublished 10/08/09
A story on Sunday surveyed the long-standing rivalry between Annapolis and Newport, R.I., for the title of the nation's sailing capital. Annapolis has an unanswerable semantic argument going for it - unlike Newport, it actually is a state capital. More importantly, the city boasts organized sailing six days a week from May through September, the presence of the Naval Academy, the plans for the National Sailing Hall of Fame - and the internationally known U.S. Sailboat Show. The 40th annual edition of the show kicks off today at City Dock and runs through Monday, to be followed three days later by its sibling, the U.S....
