Our Say: Boat shows a major calling card for city

A story on Sunday surveyed the long-standing rivalry between Annapolis and Newport, R.I., for the title of the nation's sailing capital.

Annapolis has an unanswerable semantic argument going for it - unlike Newport, it actually is a state capital. More importantly, the city boasts organized sailing six days a week from May through September, the presence of the Naval Academy, the plans for the National Sailing Hall of Fame - and the internationally known U.S. Sailboat Show.
